Altar Guild Flowers
The Altar Guild strives to glorify God with the beauty of flowers. This dedicated group arranges the flowers for the church and chapel altars every weekend. Each week, fresh flowers are purchased from a local florist and Altar Guild members arrange them. In fact, Church of the Incarnation is the largest Episcopal Church in the country to arrange its own flowers each week. On Monday, the flowers are delivered to the sick, those hospitalized, shut-ins and other parishioners by Altar Guild members. Our Altar Guild flowers are a three-fold gift — as a tribute to loved ones, as an altar adornment to be enjoyed by our congregation and as a source of cheer for shut-ins.
Flower donations from the parish are the Guild’s only means of funding the flowers. The cost of flowers unarranged for three altars averages around $245 a week which is about $1,000 a month. During Christmas and Easter the cost of the floral materials is more than $5,000 and this does not include the flower arranging and decorating which is done by the Altar Guild members.
If you would like to contribute flowers in honor of a baptism or person’s birthday or in memory of a loved one, please click on the link below or complete the form located by the entrance to the sanctuaries and leave in the offering plate. The suggested donation is $50 or what God moves you to do.
