Habitat for Humanity

One of the mainstays of the Church of The Incarnation Outreach Program is our annual commitment to and partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. Habit for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to making decent shelter for all people a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteer labor and donations and partnerships with local organizations like COTI, Habitat for Humanity builds houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) family. The houses are then sold to the partner family at no profit and financed with affordable loans with the partner family using their “sweat equity” as the down payment. The future mortgage payments are then used to build additional Habitat for Humanity houses for deserving families.

Habitat is one of the most popular Outreach programs because it allows parishioners with no particular skills an active part in eliminating poverty and homelessness one house and one family at a time. There is an incredible sense of accomplishment gained from working side by side with the partner family to attain their dream of home ownership. This year Susan and Craig Johnson are the Champions for the Incarnation Habitat House.  They will provide the leadership each week as we build a house for a deserving family.  We will need Day and Lunch Captains as well as Construction Volunteers each week.  This is a great project for groups like Growth Groups, Prayer Groups, or Parent Groups.  This year's build days are October 13, 20 and 27th, November 3, 10 and December 1st.
