Meals on Wheels

Illness, disability and frailness can make meal preparation an ordeal. In bygone days, people would share their daily supper with needy neighbors. Today, most of us work full-time and many of us do not know our neighbors. Visiting Nurses Association Meals on Wheels serves as that friendly neighbor or loving family member. VNA Meals on Wheels delivers more than 3,200 nutritious hot meals to homebound ill, elderly and disabled persons in Dallas County each day at a cost of $4.80 per meal.

Church of the Incarnation has two routes servicing those homebound. One is located primarily in the "M-street" area, Route# 1007, which we have had for approximately 30 years.  Debra Murray along with several drivers on that route have been volunteering their time for over 25 years. They are wonderful and dedicated to this service.  It is the second week of each month, serving Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

We have recently started a new route, #1005, which serves the Roseland Garden Apartments, off Washington. Deliveries are every other Monday. This route serves a housing area in our zip code and the volunteers love reaching out to those close by to the church.

For more information on either of these routes or for volunteering with VNA and Meals on Wheels, please contact Debra Murray, the Meals on Wheels Champion or the Outreach Department.
