Weekday Classes for Adults

Women’s Bible Study
Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. beginning in Memorial Chapel
The purpose of this study is two-fold. First, it provides a means for deepened fellowship and prayer within the small groups which meet to discuss the assigned readings and to answer prepared questions; and second, it provides a class for deeper study of Biblical text as well as increased understanding of discipline and spiritual growth. For the fall of 2007 the class will be studying St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans, using The Interpretation Bible Study guide that is available in the Incarnation Book Store. Contact Father Philputt for more information.

Men’s Bible Study
Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. in the Great Hall Dining Room
Join the Rev’d Dr. William Abraham as he leads us in our study of Scripture as the Word of God addressed to humanity. This class is an exercise in listening to and reflecting on Scripture as a means of God’s self-revelation. Each week we will study the lessons appointed for the following Sunday. Contact
Father Blackmon for more information.

Parents’ Time Out
Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. in the Family Ministries Room
Parents enjoy this time to ask questions, impart wisdom and share prayers. Topics are geared toward parents with children ages birth to five years and vary from practical parenting issues to personal enrichment. Childcare is provided with reservations. Both childcare reservations and class registration may be completed online at www.incarnation.org. Contact Laura Corley for more information.

Cancer Support Group
Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m. in the Bride’s Room
The Cancer Support Group meets each Wednesday afternoon immediately following the weekly Healing Eucharist. If you are or someone close to you is suffering with cancer, undergoing treatment or in remission, this group is for you. We meet every week for fellowship, discussion, and prayer. Come join us. Contact Father Philputt for more information.

Sunday Scriptures
Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m. in the Welcome Center
To enhance your Sunday morning worship, join us in studying the week’s lessons beforehand. Hearing familiar lessons allows you to listen more carefully to the sermon and enter more deeply into the experience of worship. Each week this group meets to discuss the upcoming Sunday’s readings, including deciphering any confusing parts of the text. Led by Pat Mead. Contact Father Blackmon for more information.

Morning Bible Study
Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. in the Great Hall Dining Room
Led by Dr. James Kirby, retired Dean of the Perkins School of Theology, this class will examine the Gospel of John this year. The texts selected by Dean Kirby are available for purchase in the Incarnation Bookstore. You don’t need to be a scholar. Just come and bring your Bible! Contact Father Blackmon for more information.

INClings
Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. in the Welcome Center
The INClings’ Spring Semester 2008 will commence Thursday, April 3. In April, the group will read and discuss C.S. Lewis’s final book in his acclaimed Space Trilogy, That Hideous Strength, which concludes the adventures of that matchless Dr. Ransom. In this story, the very good doctor finds himself in the midst of superior alien beings and scientific experiments run amuck. Dr. Ransom struggles with questions of ethics and morality in his quest for truth. In May, the group will read and discuss Mr. Lewis’s Prince Caspian, the second Chronicle of Narnia he completed. Mr. Lewis wrote that Price Caspian is about the “restoration of the true religion after corruption.”  An INCling cinema-outing to view Prince Caspian, the new film release in May 2008, is anticipated. The regular INClings’ group will be in summer recess commencing June 1. For more information, contact Ben Doherty.

Growth Groups
Every other Monday & Wednesday at a parishioner’s home
While not exactly a class as such, Growth Groups are our small group ministry that helps us focus on discipleship. Each group consists of about 15-25 people who meet every other week for dinner, worship, study, and prayer. This fall there are five groups meeting. This parish-wide ministry is sponsored by Uptown. Contact the Uptown Office for more information.
