Music at Incarnation

The Church of the Incarnation cherishes and celebrates the Anglican tradition of music in its fullness. In fact, many people tell us they were first attracted to Church of the Incarnation because of the quality of our music.

Like a medieval tapestry delicately woven, intricately detailed and gloriously inspired, the Episcopal faith is blessed with a rich tradition of musical and liturgical worship. Especially within the Anglican Communion is found a heritage of musical splendor dating back to the fourth century A.D.

In those early years, the church developed communities centered around monasteries and cathedrals which preserved and spread the Word of God through western civilization. Monks and sisters copied manuscripts, wrote history books, developed laws and prepared the necessities of life, all the while singing praises to God at appointed times each day. For centuries, they gathered at designated hours of worship to chant the psalms, pray the daily offices, celebrate the Eucharist, baptize the young and bury the dead, as one faithful community.

Today, Church of the Incarnation preserves the Anglican tradition of music and offers it for all to partake of and enjoy. The Cherub Choir is offered for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade; the Children's Choir for children 2nd grade through 6th grade. For adults, there are numerous musical opportunities: Parish Choir, Chancel Choir, Men's Compline Choir, Choral Society (seasonal) and Handbell Choir.
